About Me
There's hope in the journey.
I work with a myriad of different clients, but specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults. I utilize evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches to assist clients in their growth and healing. I have much experience working with clients who have experienced:
Trauma/abuse
Attachment difficulties
Foster care/adoption
Relationship/family conflict
Divorce
Grief and loss
Anxiety
Depression
Behavioral challenges
Academic/professional decline
ADHD
Self-esteem challenges
Social skills
Self-harm
I have worked as a therapist for a school district as well as in a community agency seeing at risk children and families. In addition, I have also worked as a social worker assisting transition age foster youth. I also have experience facilitating groups for both children and teens in both school and faith based settings.
I very much enjoy working with adults and working alongside them to help them identify their strengths, find new ways of reaching goals, and assisting clients to make meaningful lives for themselves. As a Christian, I can also provide Christian counseling to those who find this to be a good fit for them and their family. I do, however, welcome clients of all sprirital and religious backgrounds as well as those who do not identify as spiritual or religious.
I look forward to meeting you and taking part in your journey. Let's connect.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I have a Master's degree in Counseling from CSU Sacramento and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC Davis.
Being a therapist is such an incredible profession and I truly feel blessed to be able to take part in others' lives. When people first contact me, often they are feeling very vulnerable, raw, and are experiencing much pain. Often they feel lost and many are afraid of what may come out of the theraputic process. My approach and style is to meet my clients right where they are at and to offer non-judgmental reflection and guidance. I am patient, kind, and often use humor (especially with children and teens) to assist in building rapport, increasing comfort, and facilitating trust. I love to be able to provide hope, healing, new tools, and encouragement to my clients. It is a wonderful gift to be able to watch my clients and their families grow together, better communicate, and end services refreshed and ready to move forward in their lives.
In my spare time I enjoy being active and outdoors, spending quality time with friends and family, and working on projects and crafts around my home with my husband. I am also kept on my toes caring for my two children!
